QA Technician
They just keep on comin! And next up in the QA department is Alec – the glowbug who is absolutely more than Kenough. He’s a real spark of energy that brings a great deal of laughter to the studio, as well as a lot of agonised screaming – he’s a devil for pushing everyone else to their deaths whenever we play the game. So, uh, yeah… watch your back if you wind up in a level with Alec.
But that’s enough of that – we’ve got to get to know him first! Shall we?
Alec, you’re just on time! So, what is it you do at Glowmade?
QA Technician! They give me game, I break game and just when they think I’m done… I break it some more.
Now how would your parents describe your job?
The thing I’ve been doing since I was a baby. Probably.
How did you get to this point in your career?
This is my first ever job in the industry. Before now I was working at a cinema and hated it, day by day… but suddenly there was a light at the end of the tunnel, a glow if you will, and took my chance.
What made you want to pursue games?
There was a moment when I thought about gaming, or going into the industry, and it was like the kid inside came back to life! Not to be too cheesy here, but it felt like a dream come true. It was obvious after that.

Who or what inspires you?
Apart from the amazingly talented people here, what motivates me is the ability to create awesome things and be a part of something everyone is passionate about.

I feel like I’m quite empathetic and always willing to help and learn.
(He’s also suspiciously good at impressions of evil sidekicks from the animated Barbie movies.)
What’s the best thing about working at Glowmade?
The people are one in a million here! Everyone is so kind and helpful and easy to get along with…. but the pastries are an added bonus.

Our lovely game designer, Scotty. The way he speaks about our game and the things he works on is always so exciting to listen to. Even when he speaks about other games or interests, he’s always so passionate!
What do you want from your career? Any goals you’re looking forward to surpassing?
I want to be able to be proud of the work I’ve done and see it shine and inspire others.
What are your top tips for someone looking to get into games?
Having that passion and determination. Especially for an entry level job, having that passion and willingness to learn will help you so much. Also make things! Get your work out there no matter the stage you’re at.
In your opinion, who is the cutest Glowmade pet?
MINE! ALL MY PETS ARE THE CUTEST!
If you had to pick one game to play for the rest of your life, what would it be?
It’s gotta be Skyrim! I have got lost in that game for years so what’s an eternity ,hey?!?!?

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
I’ve worn odd socks since I was 8 and have never gone back.
What game do you wish you could’ve been part of developing?
I would have loved to be apart of making the Dishonored games. I love those games and the level design alone is so inspiring!
